On September 19th, 2018, a major fire tragically destroyed the Arthur Capper Senior Residence Building at 900 5th Street Southeast. Despite the severity of the fire, there were no fatalities, and only minor injuries.
Following the fire, members of the of the District of Columbia Joint Arson Task Force, which includes representatives of the DC Fire and EMS Fire Investigation Unit, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department, conducted a comprehensive investigation to find the cause and origin of the fire.
The results of this investigation concluded that the cause of this fire is undetermined.
