Dr. Sean G. Morgan is a double-board certified Emergency Medicine and EMS Medicine physician with a robust career dedicated to advancing emergency medical care. His career in EMS started in high school when he joined his local volunteer fire department to staff their ambulance as an EMT. He was recognized as a Top Ten EMS Responder during his high school junior and senior years .
Interested in a career in medicine, Dr. Morgan attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD where he completed his pre-medical course work and earned a degree in Mathematics. While in Baltimore, he was part of the Hopkins Emergency Response Organization (HERO), a student-led campus first responder group, and held the rank of Lieutenant.
Dr. Morgan earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and then completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Christiana Care Health Systems in Wilmington, DE. While a resident, he participated in the EMS Track and had the opportunity to help with training of The New Castle County Paramedics by giving lectures and participating in their semi-annual cadaver labs. At graduation, Dr. Morgan was awarded the prestigious Contributions to EMS Award recognizing his outstanding dedication and service in the field.
In 2021, Dr. Morgan completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in EMS and Disaster Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. During his time in Cincinnati, he served as an Assistant Medical Director for the Cincinnati Fire Department, was active in their CQI program, and worked on their implementation of The Emergency Triage, Treat, and Transport (ET3) Program. In addition, he enjoyed serving as a flight physician for Air Care Mobile Care and as Assistant Medical Director for a suburban fire department in Union Township, Ohio where he was responsible for the creation and execution of the annual continuing education schedule.
After graduation from his fellowship, Dr. Morgan took a position at Denver Health and Hospital Authority in Denver, Colorado. During his tenure, he served as an Associate Medical Director for Denver Health Paramedics and was core faculty for their Emergency Medicine Residency and EMS Fellowship. Additionally, he served as the Medical Director for the Denver Health Paramedic School where he redesigned the curriculum taught to paramedic students and took pride in ensuring the competence of each of his graduates. Dr. Morgan is committed to education and has given lectures on a variety of topics to paramedic students, medical students, and residents; sharing his expertise and fostering the next generation of emergency medical professionals.
Before moving to Washington, DC, Dr. Morgan resided in Northeastern, PA, where he served as the Medical Director for both the Lackawanna County Communication Center and Pennsylvania Ambulance. He supervised a team of over 200 dedicated professionals, ensuring the highest standards of care and operational excellence. His leadership extended to the EMS Training Institute, where he shaped the future of emergency medical services by training EMTs and AEMTs. Dr. Morgan has been recognized for his exemplary contributions to the field, earning a spot on the Top 40 Under 40 Physicians in Pennsylvania.
In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Morgan is a committed educator and national contributor to EMS standards. He serves as a board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, an Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Instructor for the American College of Surgeons, a CPR guideline author for the American Heart Association, and a national site visitor for paramedic programs.
