PEPCO Donates Smoke Alarms to DC Fire-EMS

Tuesday, May 24, 2005

(Washington, DC) PEPCO will donate thousands of dollars worth of smoke alarms to the District of Columbia Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 11 am outside PEPCO Headquarters at 701 9th Street, NW. The event will take place on the G Street NW side of the PEPCO building. These smoke alarms will be given free of charge to DC homeowners as part of the ongoing Smoke Alarm Give Away Program.

Smoke alarms are the most important fire safety item you can have in your home. The DC Fire/EMS Department encourages everyone to install smoke alarms and to remember to change the batteries every six months. An installed working smoke alarm doubles a family’s chances of surviving a fire in the home.

“We are grateful to PEPCO for this generous and life-saving donation. Every year we give hundreds of smoke alarms to District homeowners through our Smoke Alarm Give Away Program. This donation will help us continue to provide smoke alarms free of charge to those who need them,” says Fire/EMS Chief Adrian H. Thompson.
