New Ms Senior DC 2011 Crowned

Emma P. Ward Crowned Ms. Senior DC and will represent the District in the upcoming Ms. Senior America Pageant

(Washington, DC) Congratulations to Emma P. Ward, who was crowned Ms. Senior DC 2011! She competed in the Ms. Senior DC Pageant on June 12, 2011 with nine other District women age 60 and older. The contestants were scored on a personal interview with the judges, their statement of philosophy of life, and their talent and evening gown presentations.

Ward dazzled the crowd during the talent presentation by dancing to Michael Jackson’s song, Billie Jean, complete with a glitter glove, white socks and loafers. Ward was also awarded Best Interview, Best Sales, and Best Evening Gown. Retired from the US Department of Agriculture as well as a retired teacher, she is active in her community tutoring children in reading and math as well as taking them on field trips.

First runner-up, Thomasena C. Allen, was awarded Best Talent during the competition. Second Runner up was Julie D. Anderson, and Diann Ellerbe was selected as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants.

The new Ms. Senior DC 2011, Emma P. Ward, will represent her peers in the upcoming Ms. Senior America Pageant to be held in Atlantic City in October. She will compete against women from across the country in the pageant that celebrates the age of elegance and the inner beauty and community service of the mature woman.
