Newly appointed Interim Fire/EMS Chief Adrian Thompson fielded questions from the media Friday—just a half day after the Mayor’s Office issued a release and resume announcing his appointment. Chief Thompson, who will assume Chief Few’s duties immediately, said he is in touch with the former chief during the transition on a daily basis. He also said the transition would be smooth in many areas because he will make “gradual” changes. A 32-year veteran of DCFEMS, Thompson said he is motivated to “help others” and will accept the permanent job of Chief if the Mayor’s search committee selects him.
