Lanham, Md. – The Georgetown “Social” Safeway (1855 Wisconsin Avenue, NW) is teaming up with
the District of Columbia’s Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services for a Community Wellness
and Safety Fair, on Saturday, January 28, beginning at 10 am, and featuring a brief program with Kenneth
Ellerbe, District Fire and EMS Chief; Greg TenEyck, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations for
Safeway’s Eastern Division, along with other Safeway officials; and City officials, to be named, at 11 am.
The program throughout the day will include a wide array of activities for all ages, including:
- Child Seat Safety Inspections and Installations
- Stop, Drop and Roll Demonstration (always a hit with children, but beneficial too)
- CPR and AED Demonstrations
- Blood Pressure and Glucose Screenings
- Fire Extinguisher Simulation (lots of us have them, but how many know how to use them?)
- Smoke Alarm Registration
Safeway is excited to team up with DC Fire and EMS in this premier event – launching a series of Wellness and Safety Fairs that will take place at other District Safeway grocery stores. Dates and times will be announced at a later date, but the cooperative program underscores Safeway’s commitment to the communities it serves.
The Wellness and Safety Fair will provide an opportunity for Safeway’s customers to learn valuable information, in turn helping to create a safer community. “We are pleased to provide our customers with this opportunity to benefit from the wealth of experience and expertise possessed by the District’s Fire & EMS Department,” said Greg TenEyck, Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations for Safeway’s Eastern Division. “This event – and those that will follow at our other stores in the city – underscores
Safeway’s commitment to provide the very best in service to our customers.
