(Washington) The District’s Fire Marshal, members of the Fire Prevention Division, and representatives from various insurance companies will form an assembly line on Tuesday, June 27, putting together more than 500 Home Safety Kits that DC Fire/EMS will give to residents of the District of Columbia.
Allstate, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Prudential Financial, and Erie insurance companies donated more than $13,000 worth of home safety items to the Fire/EMS Department for this effort. Items include fire extinguishers, bathwater thermometers, flashlights, electrical outlet plugs, oven rack pullers, and other items designed to help people stay safe at home.
“Home can be a dangerous place. We want to help you prevent as many emergencies in the home as possible. Keeping these items in the home and following simple safety rules like never smoking in bed can prevent serious injury and even death,” says Fire Marshal Richard Fleming. “We are grateful to the DCIF insurance companies for helping us serve residents of District.”
