Fire Department Funeral Service for Active-Duty DC Firefighter

The District of Columbia Department of Police is conducting a death investigation concerning the untimely passing of Marc E. Dancy.

The District of Columbia Department of Police is conducting a death investigation concerning the untimely passing of Marc E. Dancy. Mr. Dancy, age 37, was found deceased in the 3000 block of 7th Street, NE, Washington, DC, in the early morning of Sunday, January 23, 2011. He was off-duty at the time of his death. The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death is unknown at this time.

Firefighter Dancy is a five year veteran of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (DC F&EMS) and is assigned to Engine 10, in Trinidad.

He and his wife are residents of Clinton, Maryland and have three children, age 8, 10 and 16. He grew up in the District of Columbia and is survived by his wife and children, parents and many aunts and uncles. Members of the DC F&EMS Family Services Team will be assisting the family and provide the necessary resources during this trying time.

A Funeral and Viewing will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the East Washington Heights Baptist Church, located at 2220 Branch Avenue, SE, Washington, DC. The Viewing will be held from 9 am until 11 am followed by the Funeral Service at 11 am. The Interment will be held immediately after the Funeral Services at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland, at approximately 2:30 pm. The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department will be a full participant in the ‘active-duty’ Funeral Service, Viewing and Interment, to include DC F&EMS personnel and apparatus.
