(Washington, DC) As part of Arson Awareness Week, DC’s Fire Marshall will address the students of Washington, DC’s Eastern Sr. High School in an effort to stem a series of arson fires in the school.
In an assembly set for Tuesday, May 3, Chief Richard Fleming will speak directly to students about the dangers of setting fires.
“It’s not just a question of people getting hurt,” said Chief Fleming. “The fires, while relatively small, result in the school being evacuated, which is a tremendous interruption in the students’ education.”
Chief Fleming and staff members will distribute arson prevention information and interact with school personnel on the proper way to respond in the event of fire.
