Wednesday, January 9, 2002

A recruitment drive for paramedics by the DC Fire and EMS Department will be part of the US Department of Labor's Workforce Recovery Conference, Thursday, January 10, at the Washington Convention Center, Hall D.

The department will be among more than 200 agencies and companies taking part in the conference designed to introduce employment options to those who have been adversely affected by the economic downturn resulting from the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.

"The profile of first responders has received a new level of respect, and we welcome those who seek to join our ranks," said Mott.

Currently, the Department is recruiting for the following positions: basic paramedic and supervisory paramedic. Information regarding other career opportunities also will be provided.
