(Washington, D.C.) – DC Fire & EMS has long believed that every individual should be treated with the utmost respect and should always be provided with the best professional care this Department has to offer.
On Tuesday afternoon, DC Fire & EMS Chief Gregory Dean convened a wide array of speakers who brought their message of acceptance and tolerance to the grounds of the DC Fire & EMS Training Academy. Today’s discussion included several experts who brought their unique viewpoints from varying backgrounds and life experiences. The panel primarily spoke on “Transgender Sensitivity and Awareness.”
Included on the panel were representatives from the Office of Human Rights, the Metropolitan Police Department along with a transgender male and female, and a community activist on LGBT rights.
Along with Chief Dean, there were several members of his command staff and 65 DC Fire & EMS recruits, of which we are hoping this message will resonate as they continue the process of joining our ranks.
