Members of Engine Co. 3 welcomed a bike team rolling toward Ground Zero to benefit the families of firefighters and police officers who died in the line of duty.

The trek began July 31 in Rancho Cucamonga, California and will end September 9 in New York City. Along the way the three firefighters and two police officers who make up the Patriot Day Bike Tour have encountered a lot of support.

Every year, 150 police officers and 100 firefighters are killed in the line of duty. The ride to Ground Zero is intended to bring awareness to the risks borne by police officers and firefighters and to encourage every firefighter and police officer to contribute $1 to the families of those lost in the line of duty.
