“The online application process should be very convenient and user-friendly for anyone who needs a permit from the Department,” said DCFEMS Chief Kenneth B. Ellerbe. “Any type of permit or inspection request can be submitted to ensure compliance with the fire code.”
Requests for residential or commercial facility inspections can be submitted through the website. Some businesses that require an inspection include: retail stores, bars, restaurants, night clubs, day care facilities, service stations and auto repair shops.
Permit requests for public assembly activities, hazardous materials, operations, facilities, and equipment can be made through the website as well. Some hazardous conditions that require a permit include dry cleaning plants, carnivals and fairs, refrigeration equipment and explosives.
