Units responded at 9:12 am to the Air and Space Museum, 6th Street & Independence, SW, for a suspicious white powder on the third floor. HAZMAT technicians examined the material and found it to be negative for biological matter.
The area of the museum where the powder was found was immediately isolated, and individuals who may have come in contact with it were quarantined. The museum was not evacuated, but no one was allowed in until DC FEMS determined conclusively there was no danger. Using recently acquired techniques and equipment, technicians determined the material was an aspirin product.
