Mayor Bowser and the Council of the District of Columbia to Host 9/11 24th Anniversary Commemoration and Memorial Ceremony

(Washington, DC) – Today, on Thursday, September 11 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Council of the District of Columbia will host a commemoration and memorial ceremony to honor the lives lost and impacted by the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. 

The ceremony will pay tribute to the bravery and memory of the first responders who served on that day and since, and will recognize those who sacrificed their lives to service. Members of the Council will present a resolution commemorating the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks and leaders will acknowledge the critical role first responders play in protecting the residents and visitors of the District of Columbia. 

A moment of silence will be observed in memory of the District residents, DC Public Schools teachers and students, and National Geographic Society members who perished in the attacks.
