Queen A. Anunay - Assistant Fire Chief of EMS Operations

Queen Anunay is a native Washingtonian who joined the Department as a former DC Fire Cadet in July 1991 after graduating from Eastern High School.

Through her inspiration to provide critical care to the residents and visitors of the Nation's Capital, she elected to become a nationally registered paramedic in 2009.

Anunay is the second female in the departments history to achieve the rank of Deputy Fire Chief and the first female to achieve the rank of uniformed Assistant Fire Chief.

As the Assistant Fire Chief of EMS Services her role with the agency is to ensure that members are following EMS operational policies. As the top EMS official, the Chief responds to high profile incidents and mass casualty emergencies. 

As a part of the Fire Chiefs Executive team, the Assistant Fire Chief of EMS serves on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments EMS Subcommittee, Local 3721 Internal Bargaining committee, a board member of the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board (DVFRB) and founder of the DC Fire & EMS Women Advisory Council.

Anunay is a graduate of DC Public High Schools and currently holds an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, Bachelor’s of Science in Fire Administration, and a recipient of many service awards of recognition.

Anunay is an advocate for empowering women within the DC Fire and EMS Department to lead and strive for excellence in leadership positions throughout the agency.

Chief Anunay is dedicated to ensuring that the members of the department are serving the community with exceptional customer service and compassion.
