(Washington, DC) All 33 District firehouses and the fireboat are serving as collection points in the charity event “Toys for Tots”, sponsored by the US Marines Corps Reserve and supported by regional fire departments. Toys will be collected through December 16.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution can go to any firehouse in the city and contribute a new, unwrapped toy. The campaign does not accept toys that resemble weapons. Last year, more than 6,000 toys were collected in the District for underprivileged children.

A kickoff ceremony was held recently at Union Station, announcing the yearly effort and listing all participants.
