DC Fire-EMS Welcomes Four New Fire Investigators

Wednesday, October 4, 2006
(Washington, DC) Graduation ceremonies will be held Friday, October 6, for four firefighters who have successfully completed training at the Metropolitan Police Department as a part of their overall training to become Fire/Arson Investigators.

The new graduates will take their places among the hardest working and most successful fire investigators in the region. The DC Fire/EMS Fire/Arson Investigation Team is among the busiest and most efficient of units, having investigated 700 fires in Fiscal Year 2006. Of those incidents, 141 structure fires were deemed incendiary, resulting in 28 arrests for the crime of arson.

“I’m looking forward to enhancing our already very successful Fire Investigation Unit,” said Fire Marshal Richard D. Fleming. “The additions will strengthen our ability to investigate and close more incidents.”
