DC Fire and EMS is currently hiring the following position:

1) Firefighter/Paramedic
Closing Date: October 20, 2025


Firefighter Paramedics will work in a fast-paced, innovative, and data driven jurisdiction with unique and high-profile special events related to its status as the Nation’s Capital. Firefighter Paramedics will gain tremendous experience while supporting the core mission of the Department and also have the opportunity to apply for positions that focus on unique specialties. Firefighter Paramedics are assigned to one of thirty-three fire houses throughout the District of Columbia. The incumbent will travel primarily by fire suppression unit and medic unit in a prompt and efficient manner in response to calls for emergency incidents. Emergency incidents may include structure fires, emergency medical care of critically ill or injured patients, technical rescues, etc.

2) Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Foreman
Closing Date: September 25, 2025


This position is located in the Apparatus Unit, Fleet Maintenance Division of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Service Department (DCFEMS). The Foreman gives supervision directly to a staff of employees, consisting of Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leaders, Maintenance Works, and Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanics, who are engaged in the maintenance and repair of all heavy-duty mobile firefighting equipment, ambulances, and trucks equipment for the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department.

3) IT Specialist (Customer Support)
Closing Date: September 17, 2025


This position is located in the District of Columbia's Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department's (FEMS) Information Technology Division (IT), reporting to the Deputy Director of the Technology Division and/or Deputy Chief Information Office (CIO).

The incumbent is responsible for the technical and analytical support of existing and new information technology programs, initiatives, and projects as they relate to DC Fire and EMS.

4) Program Coordinator (Automated External Defibrillator)
Closing Date: September 20, 2025


This position serves as the Program Coordinator for the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Registry and Voucher Program with primary responsibility for all aspects of the Department’s Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Registry and Voucher Program. This includes performing the full range of programmatic and administrative work supportive of the day-to-day program operating activities; developing and implementing strategies and programs for the newly developed AED voucher program to expand AED placement in the District; developing new and evaluating current standard operating procedures; identifying and analyzing program issues, concerns, and complaints; and providing a recommendation for changes.

5) Maintenance Mechanic (Property Management Division/Facilities Management Office)
Closing Date: September 28, 2025


This position is located in District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DCFEMS), the Property Management Division, and Facilities Management Office (FMO). 

The incumbent of this position serves as a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for performing multiple tasks involved in the upkeep of Fire Department facilities, grounds, related structures, fixtures, and utilities.
