DC Fire and EMS is currently hiring the following position:
1) Firefighter/Paramedic
Closing Date: December 6, 2025
Firefighter Paramedics will work in a fast-paced, innovative, and data driven jurisdiction with unique and high-profile special events related to its status as the Nation’s Capital.
Firefighter Paramedics will gain tremendous experience while supporting the core mission of the Department and also have the opportunity to apply for positions that focus on unique specialties.
Firefighter Paramedics are assigned to one of thirty-three fire houses throughout the District of Columbia.
The incumbent will travel primarily by fire suppression unit and medic unit in a prompt and efficient manner in response to calls for emergency incidents.
Emergency incidents may include structure fires, emergency medical care of critically ill or injured patients, technical rescues, etc.
2) Resource Allocation Analyst
Closing Date: October 31, 2025
This position is in the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (FEMS), Services Bureau (Bureau).
The mission of DC Fire and EMS is to preserve life and promote health and safety through excellent pre-hospital treatment and transportation, fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue activities, and homeland security awareness.
This position functions as a Resource Allocation Analyst responsible for all phases of project management with respect to complex service contracts and purchases, and for establishing fiscal property management program goals, policies, and objectives within DC Fire and EMS.
3) Visual Information Specialist
Closing Date: November 20, 2025
This position is located within the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department, Public Information Office/Media and Community Relations Division.
The mission of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department is to preserve life and promote health and safety through excellent pre-hospital treatment and transportation, fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue activities and homeland security awareness.
The incumbent is responsible for serving as a Digital and New Media Specialist and helping DC Fire and EMS advance its vision, mission, and goals through effective messaging and visual communication.
This role plans, produces, and manages visual communications that effectively conveys information. The incumbent may also serve as a backup Public Information Officer (PIO) if directed by supervisors.
3) EMS Physician Assistant (2 Positions)
Closing Date: December 20, 2025
This position is located in the District of Columbia Government (District), Fire & Emergency Medical Services Department (FEMS), Office of the Medical Director, Mobile Integrated Health Team (MIH Team).
The mission of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department is to preserve life and promote health and safety through excellent pre-hospital treatment and transportation, fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue activities and homeland security awareness.
The incumbent in this role is responsible for operating under a delegation agreement and the supervision of the DC Fire and EMS Medical Director, serving as the lead clinician for the MIH Team, providing advanced pre-hospital medical care, diagnosing and treating a wide range of illnesses and injuries on scene, and collaborating with EMS crews to improve patient outcomes.
