This position is located in the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department Training Academy Division. Which provides a wide range of training for all operational employees of the department? This training range from initial fire recruit training, advance technical rescue training, initial emergency medical technician, emergency medical technician recertification training, and advance life support training etc. In order to prepare our members to provide the emergency services needed to the residents and visitors in the District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervisory oversight of EMS Educators and EMS Instructional Staff and provide paramedic and emergency medical technician training to personnel employed with the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (DC Fire/EMS) and other DC or Federal agencies. The incumbent assists in ensuring that the paramedic training and clinical instructions are conducted in accordance with standards and guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the District of Columbia Department of Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Administration (HEPRA). Provides paramedic training and instructs emergency medical technicians employed with the Department and other DC and Federal agencies in becoming certified as District of Columbia and Nationally Registered Paramedics. Schedules clinical rotations at District of Columbia Hospitals in consultation with the Deputy Fire Chief Training Director, EMS Assistant Training Director, or their designee. The incumbent directs day-to-day operations, providing leadership and advice necessary to identify problems and guide staff to successfully accomplish the mission, goals and objective of the program.
