In order to qualify for the 2008 Fire/EMS Cadet Program, applicants must submit at least one listed document in each of the categories below. Documents such as a District of Columbia driver’s license or learner’s permit may be submitted for more than one category.

• Proof of Date of Birth Documents 
  • Applicants must reach their 18th birthday by October 1, 2008 and not reach their 21st birthday on or before January 31, 2008.
• Proof of US Citizenship Documents
  • Applicants must be a US citizen at the time of application. 
• Proof of Social Security Number Documents   
• Proof of Residency in the District of Columbia Documents
  • Applicants must be a resident of the District of Columbia. The document(s) must include the applicant’s name.
• Proof of Educational Status Documents
  • Applicants must have a valid high school diploma or GED at time of application.
• Proof of Family Size Documents
  • The documents must list or identify all family members in the household including the applicant.
• Proof of Family Income Documents
  • The documents must not be older than six months. They must demonstrate total family income for all wage earners in the household.
• Proof of Selective Service Registration Documents
  • This is required for male applicants 18 years of age and older.
• District of Columbia Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit
  • Applicants must have a current valid District of Columbia driver’s license or learner’s permit at the time of application.
