Evacuation of Persons with Disabilities
It is the employer’s responsibility to provide a safe work environment for all employees to work. Employees with disabilities are entitled to the same level of safety as everyone else.
While the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) does not require formal emergency plans, Title I and Title III of the ADA require that policies and procedures for public accommodations be modified to include people with disabilities. Emergency plans must now include all classifications of disabilities.
