Geographical Inspection Section Fire Inspectors are assigned to each ward in the city. They are responsible for performing regular, systematic inspections of all buildings within their assigned area, except single-family homes and federally owned buildings. This section investigates complaints involving alleged fire code violations, provides fire safety at large public gatherings and festivals, and supplies fire security for the President and other dignitaries. The section is responsible for annual court ordered inspections of all public schools, and license renewal inspections of certain occupancies (i.e. community residential facilities, rooming houses, funeral homes and veterinary hospitals).
