Office of the Fire/EMS Chief

The Chief of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (FEMS) directs overall policy, planning and management of the department with the aid of four Assistant Fire Chiefs.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Operations, is responsible for overall supervision and coordination of field activities, including the Operations Division and Special Operations Division.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Services, supervises the Fire Prevention Division, Training Division, Fleet Maintenance Division, Management Information Systems, and the Facilities Maintenance Division.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Medical Director, is a licensed physician responsible for clinical oversight and medical quality management.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Planning and Policy, is responsible for the Office of Professional Responsibility (Compliance and Internal Affairs), Risk Management Division, Liaison with the Office of Unified Communications, Legislative Affairs, Information and Privacy Office, and the Equity Office.

Within the Office of the FEMS Chief are the offices of Public Information and Customer Service, Financial Operations, Executive Officer (Labor/Management Liaison), and the General Counsel.
