Become a Dual-Role Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic/Firefighter

We provide protection to the President of the United States, Congress, and foreign embassies.
 
Paramedic/Firefighter entry-level examinations are administered by the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Human Resources Division once a month. The most recent Firefighter/EMT Entry Level Exam was administered on August 23, 2008. This exam is given once every two to three years, so the next Firefighter/EMT Entry Level Exam will not be administered before 2010.

The Department is actively recruiting National Registry Certified EMT-Paramedics (NREMTP) to serve as dual-role Paramedic/Firefighters.
